James A. Newsom, known as Jim to his friends, was born in Corsicana, Texas, on July 13, 1959.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1984.  Jim also is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Jim primarily practices personal injury litigation with 30 years of experience over a broad variety of areas, including premises liability, products liability, toxic tort, boating/admiralty/maritime, commercial vehicle accidents, non-medical professional liability, domestic animals, commercial livestock, libel/slander, construction, and others.

Jim has tried over 30 cases in a variety of factual contexts.  The lawsuits tried to a verdict range from simple two-party personal injury cases to large, multi-party lawsuits taking many months to try, from one plaintiff to hundreds of plaintiffs.
