Douglas E. Markham, born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; admitted to the Texas bar in 1981; admitted to the North Carolina bar in 1987. He is currently licensed in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Doug has argued cases before the state and federal courts of appeals, and appeared in cases before the U. S. Supreme Court.

Doug’s principal area of practice in recent years has been defense of tort actions, primarily medical malpractice defense. He also has experience in contract disputes, probate litigation, personal injury defense, products liability defense, and election, redistricting and constitutional law.

Doug received a Morehead-Cain scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his B. A. in political science and speech communication, summa cum laude in 1978. He graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1981, and practiced with Butler and Binion and Callaway & Associates prior to joining the firm.

He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the North Carolina State Bar, the Houston Bar Association, and a founding member of the Houston Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society. He is also active in a number of community and political organizations, including Hostelling International and the Harris County Republican Party Executive Committee.
